Fishing Lures

These are two fishing lures generated on rhino. The first one is a classic french style spinner in gold with red hooks, since everybody knows fish like red. The second is a topwater popper, it is cupped in the front to make a bigger "kerplop!" and is narrower in back and thicker in front so when it pauses the back sinks and the front rises giving it the action of a struggling frog or other creature. The second one really shows my ability to make abstract surfaces with loft since the whole thing is created with organice shapes.

Rhino Grill

This is a grill i made on rhino. It features 2 wood cutting/food prep boards and under grill storage. It also has a large fuel tank hidden by the drop down panels so its protected and allowing you to grill for a long time. This shows my ability to create surfaces like the hood and storage rack and my ability to use textures, the aluminum is a brushed aluminum texture, and the knobs are a black plastic texture and the cutting boards are obviousely a wood texture. (for more textureing see fly rod and ice shanty)

Ice Shanty

This is an ice shanty again designed on rhino. The front of it is designed to face into the wind because it is pointed so it will be less likely to move and it will be easier to tow. It has a deck complete with fishing holes so you can fish outside on a warm or sunny day. It has a hollow cavity under the floor to put foam floatant in so if it goes through it will float and it will insulate the floor. It also has a sink inside that will pump up water from the lake for cleaning fish and rinsing hands. Next to the sink is the top of the grill I designed (see next post) so you can cook your catch while on the lake. Next to the seating benches in back are fold up army cots so you can sleep in the shanty. The logs will be nail on log siding to keep weight down for easier towing. The shingle roof will make it last unlike most shantys on the ice today.

bellingham mustangs logo

this is a logo i designed for my freind Erik Lane and his baseball team the Bellingham Mustangs.
He supplied the mustang graphice and i traced it in rhino and then added a text.

building a fly rod

this is a 9 foot 5 weight fly rod, with a mid arbor reel designed on rhino. It has larger guides to reduce friction on casting and a more heavly tapered handle for a more comfortable grip. to make it a measured out a handle with the correct dimensions and the revolved it 360 degrees, i then filleted the edges to make it softer. For the reel i made two identical disks and spaced them about 3 inches apart. Then i revolved a curve to make the arbor to connect them. Finnaly i polar arrayed a cylnder to use to split a hole for the line to dry. The rod blank was a truncated cone 8'3" long. To make the guides a made a circle and piped it, then copyed and scaled it to make the correct size for variouse locations along the blank.
